Welcome to Form I History! Someone once said, "people can only understand the present if they understand the past." So for us to understand where we are today, we must look at how our nation has developed since its birth. While we look at the past, somewhere in the world, history is being created. History is something that is happening constantly. This year you will certainly improve your knowledge of American History, but you will also gain important skills that you will need in the years to come such as note taking, oral presentations, writing papers, and reading actively.
Expectations of Students:
Respect: This entails that you raise your hand if you have something to say, listen when someone else is talking, as well as respecting the space that we use.
Responsibility: Behaviorally, you and you alone are responsible for your actions. Academically, take responsibility and pride in your work; it is a reflection of you.
No inappropriate language.
Follow all other school rules.
You will need a three-ring binder for this class that you will bring to class everyday. You will also need to organize your binder or go-port to hold assignment sheets, handouts, quizzes/tests, writing, and primary documents. You will also need a section with paper to take notes. If you wish you may also use a separate notebook.
Grading:
You will be evaluated and graded on homework, quizzes, tests, writing assignments, and your effort and participation in class. Overall, your grade will be determined by total points.
Policies:
If you could not do an assignment, please see me before school and we will figure out the appropriate course of action. Do not come and talk to me right before class starts to discuss this matter. The sooner you can tell me about it, the better.
And finally…..STRIVE HARD! Always try to do your best work.
If you need to contact me, you should e-mail my school address. You may also call and leave a message on my voicemail: extension 3112.
